The Benefits of DTG Printing

As a powerful and cost-effective alternative to screen printing, Dtf printing offers a number of unique benefits that could transform your business. Designed for high-performance production, it utilizes a printer that prints a design on a film, then transfers it directly onto the fabric without any intermediate steps. This allows for a quicker turnaround time, lower costs, and a more streamlined process from pattern creation to finished product.

What is the purpose of DTG?

The process begins with the dtf printer inserting a transparent PET (polyethylene terephthalate) film into its trays, and printing a mirrored version of the final print that needs to appear on the fabric. A special type of water-based pigment ink is then printed over the white layer, followed by a hot-melt powder that is subsequently spread uniformly on the print via an automatic powder shaker or manually.

Once the print is complete, the heat press machine applies a combination of both heat and pressure to adhere the printed film onto the fabric. Once cooled, the transfer can be peeled away to reveal the vibrant and high-quality print on the fabric beneath.

The dtf process also eliminates the need for weeding, which can be a tedious and time-consuming task when using vinyl or HTV, and it works on flat as well as contoured fabrics such as Thermos mugs or signboards. Although an initial investment may be required, dtf printing can deliver quick returns and a higher profit margin. As long as the proper temperature and pressure are applied, dtf printing is capable of producing flawless final designs that accurately reflect the image you want on your shirt.
