So you want to start a business, huh? Well, you’re just lucky. This article will help you whether you are planning to start a new business or have an existing business that you want to expand. This is a step-by-step guide on how to start, improve and grow a business while minimizing the loss for you. If you’re starting from scratch, please read this article carefully from the beginning. For those who already have an existing business and want to improve or expand it, the last part of the article will be more useful.
Every company starts with an idea. You will find that in the course of the article I have emphasized the mental aspects of people and not the physical or financial aspects. Call me philosophical, but the mind is the place where everything happens. I have seen and experienced it again and again. When your mind is fully engaged, there is literally nothing you cannot do. Let’s get started.
Step 01: Find your passion
To start a business, you need to find out what it is that you are really passionate about. “Why is that important,” you say? The answer is simple. You really don’t want to get entangled in some kind of work that you hate.
There is plenty of planning and execution involved in a brand new business and if you are passionate about it, they wouldn’t feel like work at all compared to a kind of business that you don’t care for. After all, happiness is the bottom line of everything we do in life. Why not choose a company that would make you happy while you do it?
“If your vacation becomes your calling, you will be successful in life”.
Step 02: How to sell it
Now that you’ve found your passion, let’s find out how you can use it to pay people who need such a service. Even if your passion is the most ridiculous of all time, believe me, there are millions of people who would love your services. In fact, the more alien and unique your passion is, the more likely you are to succeed just because this kind of business doesn’t exist yet.
That doesn’t mean that if your passion is something general or ordinary, you shouldn’t do it. Even if it’s something general, if you really love it, you will always find ways to do things differently than the others and that’s the winner.
Let’s say you have a passion for cars. They are more likely to be successful in a car repair shop, a car parts shop or a repair and modification shop. Sure, there are many of them out there, but if you love it, it will be unique. Maybe your store has a nice waiting area where your customers can have a seat and a free drink when they come to drop off or pick up a car, or you can have free stickers fixing their breaks. Once you’re in the store, you’ll find out.
Step 03: Planning
Make a note of your individual ideas and prepare a presentation. Take some time to do it. You should not rush this part. If a new idea arises while you are still in the planning phase, don’t hesitate to change it. Edit and modify until you are completely satisfied and you get a clear picture of your business.
I cannot emphasize how important this is. You have to be absolutely clear and sure. If there are parts that are blurry, go for a while, do something else and come back to the planning table when your mind is clear. You will see later how we will use this step again and again.
One thing to remember here is that I’m not talking about the shows. At this point, don’t think about how you want to start the business. That will come later. Your focus at this stage is the “what”. If you start thinking about the “shows” you will ruin your plan because you start thinking about things like “How do I get the capital”, “How do I find an ideal place”, etc. The “Hows” will be displayed later when you are clear about the “Whats”.
Step 04: Visualize your success
Now that you have a clear picture of your business, visualize how it would look and feel if it were fully functional and successful. You need to be able to taste the success. This, in turn, is another important stage. Why do you ask? There will be obstacles on the road to success. This is the image that will make you live your life.
